Jackman Manor is a secure building, with secured courtyards, monitored by video cameras. Code locks are on all exterior doors and also into the Behavioural Support Transition Neighbourhood (BSTN).

The Manor is only a block from Fraser Highway. Easy access to public transportation located immediately off the property.

Personal items:

Jackman Manor is not responsible for loss or damage of any personal belongings, so any articles of monetary or sentimental value should remain with relatives or friends.

  • Personal clothing: due to limited space available, we request the resident and family bring in only those clothes the resident would wear on a daily basis (seasonal).
  • Personal hygiene items (through our Tuck Shop): please note, bath salts and oils are not allowed in our tubs.
  • Please note, we do not accommodate motorized scooters.

Visiting Hours

Our visiting hours are unrestricted; however, we do ask that you stay no longer than 10PM. Please respect the privacy of the other residents. Please read this post regarding your flu shots.

Medical Care

Where possible, each resident may retain his or her own doctor. The family representative will be notified of any transfer to an acute care hospital.

Outside medical appointments will require family representative, or if none available, a paid Companion (Care Aid) will be arranged.

Medications

It’s our policy that no medication is kept in elders’ rooms.

Pets Therapy Program

We have an active Pet Therapy Program, and family pets are welcome. All pets are to be kept on a leash.

No Smoking

No smoking is allowed on the property grounds.

When you go out for the day

If you’d like to leave Jackman Manor for an outing, please advise the nurse with specifics, where you are going and how long you will be. You will be asked to sign out at the front reception desk. This way we know where you should an emergency occur for us or for you.

  • If you are going to be out for a meal, please advise the nursing staff one hour beforehand.
  • If you plan to be away from the Manor for more than 72 hours, you MUST advise the nurse.
